Alliance Bank in Sulphur Springs

Brashear News by Debbie Young 12/04/2014

So sorry I have missed sending in my news lately. Change is hard sometimes. Turning in my article on Thursday evening instead of Tuesday makes me think a little. Thanks to everyone for being patient with me. I sure hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving last week. The weather was just perfect. Not too cool and certainly not too warm.

Brashear Free Library is alive and doing well. I know that sounds funny but we are so excited to see that someone is reading some of the books. We even had a request for the book Heaven is for Real. If anyone has a copy they do not mind lending for a short time, let me know.

Busy times in Hopkins County. Our area teams are active in Basketball tournaments. Christmas activities are scheduled for the square on Friday night with the parade at 7:00. Come out and enjoy all of the fun that has become an annual event for Sulphur Springs. Weather is going to be mild small chance of rain. We are praying the rain holds off until later tomorrow night.

The Blue Santa campaign was a great success this week. There was a lot of fun trying to meet their goal. If you would like to contribute, they could still use some bicycles, boys or girls.

The Summer Work Camp staff is in the process of selecting houses for the youth to paint this summer. If you know of anyone in Brashear who is unable to paint their house, please call me and let me know. I will follow up with all of the necessary paperwork.

This weekend you can also enjoy a musical experience with the Northeast Texas Choral Society’s Christmas Special. They will perform on Saturday night at the Civic Center and on Sunday afternoon. You will be thoroughly entertained if you choose to go.

What is going on with the property on CR 1100 and FM 3389? Inquiring minds want to know. No really I am just being nosy. Lot of big equipment moving the dirt around, fences have disappeared and trees are down. Very interesting.

If you find yourself driving down CR 1117 and CR 1100, you will find yourself salivating. Brandon Moore is busy smoking the meat for Sharon’s Bar-B-Q. Some really good stuff. You will find her restaurant on Church Street out by the hospital. Then also remember to check out Idzibitzy Bakery. Michelle has moved to Main Street and is making some marvelous desserts and has several gluten free desserts. We really need to help support our local people.

It is the season to help others, so how about helping by ringing a bell. The Salvation Army is in need of volunteers to ring the bell for the little red kettle. Call Tammy Flemens at 903.348.9543. She will help you out. It is the time to help others and I hear you come away with such a wonderful feeling of helping others.

I have run down so I will close tonight. Thank you for allowing me to catch you up on what is going on in Brashear. I would like to remind you to call me at 903.612.8806; email me at [email protected]; or visit us at CR 1119. We almost have a fire going to get the chill out of your bones. We do like visitors. Take care.
