The Tira Community Christmas Party is coming up on Saturday, December 6th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Brisket will be provided. Residents should bring side dishes and desserts. We are also collecting canned goods (preferably gallon-size) for the Meal-A-Day program in Sulphur Springs. Santa Claus is planning to stop by and visit with the youngsters and the young at heart. Make plans to come enjoy a time of visiting with your neighbors.

The Tira City Council will meet on Tuesday, December 2nd, at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center. Following the meeting the group will decorate the center for the Christmas party. The public is always welcome and encouraged to attend.

William and Joyce Dodd enjoyed Thanksgiving with family at their home on Thursday. There were a total of 21 attending, including Michael McNiel, Rob Dodd, Tonja Jones, Alyssa, Gavin, and Ethan Shelton, Brad, Tanya, Trenton, and Matthew Dodd, Stuart, Tiffany, Emery, and Elli McPherson, Blaine, Heather, Lilly, Jayden, and Dakota Lawwill, and William and Joyce. Joyce reported that Tonja’s daughters could not make it. Maegan was sick with the flu and Mandi called from Missouri.

Malcolm, Morgan, Kenden, and Jaidyn Joslin celebrated Thanksgiving with Malcolm’s family on Thursday.

Chip and I spent Sunday evening through Tuesday morning at the Lake 0’ the Woods resort on Lake Palestine. We enjoyed driving around the area and seeing the beautiful fall foliage and just relaxing. We had delicious burgers at the East Texas Burger Company in Mineola on the way home. Our family will be gathering for Thanksgiving today (Friday).

I’m sure most everyone in Tira was busy with Thanksgiving activities and will have lots to report for the next column.
