Graveside service for Lanny Ray Payne, 66, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Weaver Cemetery with military honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition. Mr. Payne passed away on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Dallas. He was born on September 1, 1948 in Sulphur Springs, the son of Georgie Dee and Mary Sue Fisher Payne. He married Cathey Dowell on September 16, 2010 in Sulphur Springs. She survives. Lanny served in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Davis Street Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Danny Ray Payne and wife Dr. Maura Payne of California, grandchildren, Steele and Stone Payne of California, brother, George David Payne and wife Judy of Dallas, sister, LaGayla Payne Bell of Sulphur Springs, and nephews, Jonathan and Jerod Payne of Dallas.
