A.L. Brown croppedFuneral service for Arthur Lee “A.L.” Brown, III, 71, of Sulphur Springs, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Cashion and Rev. Al Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Shooks Chapel Cemetery with Johnny Flowers, Jimmy Winfrey, Larry Blann, Ricky Blann, Ron Beyer, Colton Frazier, Obie Miller, and Donnie Miller serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be The Northcutt’s Sweetshop Coffee Club, Van Bell, Al Wagner, Robert Carpenter, Mel Panter, Jimmy Winfrey, Sherry Northcutt, Gary Kesting, and Al Davis. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at West Oaks Funeral Home.

A.L. passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014 at Carriage House Manor. He was born on February 7, 1943 in Sherman, TX, the son of Arthur Lee, Jr. and Margaret (Blann) Brown. He was a self- employed dirt contractor for many years. He was a member of the Greenpond Baptist Church and a member of the Lake County Antique Tractor Association.

He married Betty Joiner on November 24, 1962 in Como, TX. She survives. He is also survived by son Richard L. Brown and wife DeeAnn Hoelscher of Sulphur Springs, daughter, Joy Glenn and husband John of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Dakota Brown, Shilby Beyer and husband Brandon, Ashley Brown, Jessica Hoelscher, Macy Hoelscher, Jaci Glenn, Jayla Glenn, and Jacob Glenn, great-grandchildren, Peyton and Chandler Beyer. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant daughter.
