Wildcats Start Strong, Finish Behind

After a solid first half that saw the Wildcats’ football team jump out to a 23-7 led over Texas High, the Tigers roared back in the second half to take a 42-29 victory at Gerald Prim Stadium Friday night in the district opener for both teams. The Wildcats got three touchdown runs from quarterback Larry Pryor and one from back Tyler Rosamond but it wasn’t enough. The Wildcats, 0-1 in district and 1-3 for the season, play at Mt. Pleasant next Friday.

Wildcats Football Coach Greg Owens said before Friday night’s Texas High game that one of the keys to the game was staying away from turnovers. Wildcats turnovers provided too many momentum switches for the Wildcats to overcome. In other game news, Wildcat Jaylon Hawkins’ injury turned out to be only a stinger and he should be available next game.
