Funeral Services for Robert Henry Thompson, age 74 of Sulphur Springs, will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Harmony Assembly of God with Rev. Robert Montgomery, Rev. Danny Weems and Rev. James House officiating. Interment will be at Oaklawn Cemetery with Jordan Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Mike Swanson, Jason Barnett, Jody Savage, Archie Lindley and Roy Anderson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Harmony Assembly of God Deacons. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 28, 2014 from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson passed away on Friday, September 26, 2014 at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on January 16, 1940 in Sugar Hill, TX the son of Ollie Isaac “Slim” and Gertrude Wilson Thompson. He retired from L3 as an aircraft maintenance person and also served in the National Guard. He married Sandra Talley who preceded him in death. He then married Delores Ann Shear. She survives.
Other survivors include: sons, Dale Thompson of Sulphur Springs and Jeff Edwards of Lancaster, TX; daughters, Tonja Flecker of Sulphur Springs and Tracey Thurman of Cooper; brothers, Billy Don Thompson of Cooper, Ronnie Thompson of Pine Forest and Ricky Thompson of Louisiana; sisters, Ruth Ennis of Sulphur Springs, Myrtle Ann Nichols of Arkansas and Jessie Lee Swanson of Pickton; grandchildren, Nikki Barnett and Jason Barnett of Sulphur Springs; great-grandsons, Jackson Barnett and Dylan Barnett.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
