Brashear News by Debbie Young 09/03/14

I am not sure but I thought I saw a few geese going over our house on Saturday morning. My grandson, Colby, immediately asked if they were in a “V”. I said no, that is why I wasn’t sure. Would like to think that Fall is fast approaching. I know the dove hunters are out in full force. Hearing shots every afternoon.

Tom is putting some new books in the Brashear Free Library. If you liked “The Shack” he is putting another one on that genre, “The Noticer” in there tomorrow. Check it out. There will be another Bible, one of the Left Behind Series, and some more good novels. If you have not had a chance to look, please stop and there may be something that you will enjoy.

We are still getting okra and cantaloupes from our garden. We need a little rain to get a fall garden going. The weathermen are forecasting some rain this weekend. Hope it comes.

Tom and I are starting a Divorce Care 13-week session this Sunday, September 7th. This study is to help those who are struggling with divorce and the after effects. It will be held in the administration building at First Methodist Church in Sulphur Springs. We will meet at 4:00 pm and then will discuss a good meeting time for everyone involved. If you know of anyone who is in need of this type of program, please call Tom (903.413.1673) or me (903.243.1235) for more information.

We have noticed that the red-tailed hawks are back. This may be another sign of the seasons changing.

I had a phone call from Mrs. Flippin called to say she remembered “The Kitchen Hotel”. She said everyone sat at one long table. If you wanted something, you would have someone pass the food down to you. Just like family. Interesting. Mrs. Murray isn’t it nice to know that someone else remembers this.

P31 is starting a new month and we would love to have you come and join a great group of ladies. I feel that I have made some new “best friends”. We meet on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evening at 7:00 pm at Brashear Baptist Church. We work hard for 50 minutes and then rest for 5 and receive an inspirational devotion. Come see how an hour can change your life.

I have just about run out of information for the week. So remember to call me at 903.612.8806; email me at [email protected]; or stop by CR 1119 and visit for a while. The weather is eventually going to get cooler and we have several swings around our yard so we can enjoy the peace and quiet in our neighborhood.
