Enoth Leon “Buddy” Thomas

Graveside services for Enoth Leon “Buddy” Thomas will be held on Saturday, August 23rd, 2014, at 11:00 a. m at the City Cemetery in Sulphur Springs, with the Rev. Kenneth Hathaway and Rev. Alvin Kadditz officiating, followed by a celebration of life reception at the Holiday Inn Express in Sulphur Springs.

Buddy was born on August 28, 1950, the son of Enoth and Agnes Pauline Wilson Thomas, in Sulphur Springs, TX. He died Monday, August 4, 2014 at his residence.

Buddy had a passion for living life to the fullest and with honor. Highly energetic, he always had to accomplish something each day and no matter how simple or complex the task, he never compromised quality. A firm believer in the “American Dream”, Buddy was self-employed the majority of his working life. After graduating from Bethany College, (now Southern Nazarene University) in Oklahoma in 1972, Buddy worked as a dairy farmer with his dad while attending graduate school at East Texas State University, Commerce, traveled across the country with his brother-in-law, Dennis Sink, buying and selling houseplants, contracted to build car washes across Texas, owned and operated the Avant dress shop in Dallas with his first wife, Donna for many years as well as training and showing horses and their saluki breed of dogs. Buddy obtained his auctioneer’s license in 1993 and then contracted his services to established auction firms, served as the 2006-2007 President of the Texas Auctioneers Association, and obtained certification as an appraiser. Together with Maggie, he established and operated Thomas & Associates Auctioneers, LLC which will continue to operate going forward. As well, Buddy was a life-long farmer with a primary focus on animal husbandry and raising high quality beef cattle. He is referred to by his daughter Sarah, and her husband, Andy as “The Most Interesting Man in the World” due to all he accomplished in his life. However, his friends, family, farm neighbors, auction associates, auction customers and most especially his wife, Maggie, will remember Buddy as a kind, loving, generous, faithful and gentle man always willing to lend a hand to and mentor others…and always, always with that big, toothy smile and those sparkling blue eyes.

Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Dickey Thomas; sons, Daniel Tussey and wife, Deborah of Houston and Erik Tussey of Dallas; daughter, Sarah Tussey and husband, Andy McAdams of San Antonio; grandchildren, Conner Crump, Jackson Crump and Chloe Tussey.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myra Jean Thomas Sink.
