Judge Newsom Says Preparation For Fiscal Budget Is Ahead Of Schedule

Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom said preparation of a budget for the next fiscal year is ahead of schedule and he is optimistic a preliminary budget can be adopted by a July 31 deadline. He added he and the County Commissioners are meeting often on the budget, which he hoped would be all wrapped up by September 1. Judge Newsom said the budget contained no new money. He said he’s optimistic concerning the economy of the county.
