The total Hopkins County inmate population was at 102 early Wednesday morning. A whopping total of 25 inmates were being housed at county expense in Franklin County. Sheriff Butch Adams told County Judge Robert Newsom the large number was necessary due to an inmate knocking out a window in the Hopkins County Jail a few days ago. Judge Newsom said the number in Franklin County would drop after the window is repaired in the local jail.
