Dairy Festival Contestants on the Air

Dairy Festival Queen Contestants Sarah Rost and Avery Faulks, both from Sulphur Springs High School, were guests on KSST’s Good Morning Show with Enola Gay Thursday morning. All six contestants appeared on the Good Morning Show this week.

Sarah is the daughter of Tom and Suzy Rost. Her sponsor is the Junior Waverly Club. Sarah sees being a Dairy Festival Queen Contestant as a once in a lifetime opportunity. She says its’ been a cool experience. She notes that during the cow-milking contest, her cow kicked her milk bucket eight times. During the Pageant Saturday night, Sarah will perform a singing skit to “My New Philosophy” from You’re A Good Man, Charley Brown.

Avery is the daughter of Mark and Angie Faulks. Her sponsor is the Dial Study Club. Avery says she is competing in part because her grandfather and great grandfather were dairymen. She calls the experience so far awesome. For her talent Saturday night, Avery, who is in the High School Strings program, will play “The Prayer” on her violin.

The 2014 Dairy Festival still has several events left including the grand finale, the Pageant Saturday night. The carnival will continue nightly beginning at 5 p.m. through Saturday night. Saturday morning at 8 a.m., the 5K Milk Run will take place starting at Kids’ Kingdom at Buford Park. This year’s Dairy Foods Contest Saturday afternoon has been cancelled after they received only 4 entries this year. But the Dairy Festival will wrap up in a big way with the Queen Coronation Pageant 7 p.m. Saturday in the Civic Center Auditorium. One of six contestants will be crowned as the new queen. It will also be the last hurrah as queen for Kennedy Potts.
