Maxwell Hopes Lack of Bids for Main Street Paving Brick Will Not Cause Delays

With no manufacturer submitting a sealed bid for paving brick for the Main Street renovation project, Sulphur Springs City Manager Marc Maxwell says the city is now free to negotiate price with manufacturers much like a contractor would do. Maxwell says manufacturers don’t usually deal with cities’ bid processes and their thick bid packets. Maxwell says he only knows of four companies that offer paving brick. He doesn’t expect the development to delay the Main Street job unless it will take a long time to get the brick. Brick color may also be an issue, as Maxwell will want something in a red color.
