Mean Green Spelling Machine Defends Its’ Title at Rotary Spelling Bee Thursday Night

The Mean Green Spelling Machine almost meet their match, but in the end the team sponsored by Guaranty Bond Bank successfully defended their championship at the 3rd annual Rotary Club Spelling Bee. The word “embarrassment” tripped up the runner up Ms. Bee Haven team sponsored by Farmers Electric Cooperative. The champs’ Menzi Campbell correctly spelled “embarrassment” and then “aficionado” for the victory. Gail Herman and Patricia Chase were also on the Mean Green Spelling Machine team. Funds raised during the fun evening will go for Rotary student scholarships.
