Northeast Texas Food Bank Makes Appeal For Cash Donations
October 31, 2007 |
Facing a 40% cut in their budget and with the busy holiday season coming up, the Northeast Texas Food Bank in Sulphur Springs is asking for public support through cash donations to help them out. Food bank manager Denise McCarty says she can take the money and purchase a lot more food than any individual can by buying food through the Dallas Food Bank. Ms. McCarty says agencies that utilize the food bank served 5,600 families in Delta and Hopkins Counties last month. The elderly and needy all qualify for the meals by meeting Texas poverty guidelines. Anyone who would like to donate cash is encouraged to mail it to or drop it by the Northeast Texas Food Bank at 217 Linda Drive right across from Suddenlink Cable.
