With assistance from officers with the Sulphur Springs Police Department and Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, the Special Crimes Unit arrested 13 people in a drug sweep Tuesday involving cases in the works for the past two months. Lt. Ron Plaxco with the Special Crimes Unit said the vast majority of the cases involved people selling drugs including pharmaceuticals, crack and powder cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine. He expects perhaps six more arrests soon. Charges include first, second and third degree felonies. Some arrests involved engaging in organized criminal activity and selling drugs in a drug free zone.
