Sulphur Springs City Council to Take up Registered Sex Offender Ordinance Tuesday Night
September 29, 2007 |
Where registered sex offenders can live in Sulphur Springs will be further restricted if the city council passes an ordinance Tuesday night. The proposed ordinance will prohibit registered sex offenders from living within 1,000 feet of a school, daycare facility, public park or playground in the city. In other business, the council will revisit an ordinance from Clinton and Linda Buckley to rezone their property currently zoned for light industrial, heavy commercial and single family to heavy industrial. The ordinance failed several weeks ago when a council vote ended in a 2-2 tie. Neighbors on both sides of the property in question have complained about plans for a trucking business.
