Sulphur Springs City Council to Take Up a Pair of Downtown Matters
September 28, 2007 |
The Sulphur Springs City Council will be taking up a couple of downtown matters on their agenda Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The council will be considering a Main Street improvement project from the square to Davis Street. The proposal, drafted by Orlando, Florida traffic engineer Ian Lockwood comes to the council with the recommendation of the Downtown Revitalization Board.
The council is also expected to take up a Lockwood proposal to replace traffic lights on Davis at Main and Connally with four-way stops. This matter will also require approval of not only TXDOT since these lights are on a state highway but also the blessing of the Texas Historical Commission since historic brick is under pavement at these intersections. City Manager Marc Maxwell hopes work can begin on Main Street in January or February.
