Sheriff Adams Pleased as Jail Passes Inspection
September 28, 2007 |
Hopkins County Sheriff Butch Adams says he is always glad when the County Jail passes state inspection. The jail was recertified after an inspection Thursday. Sheriff Adams says the State Commission on Jail Standards did recommend a couple of changes for the jail. They recommended a fence in the inmate outside recreation area be covered with a windscreen to block public view. They also suggest an additional jailer be hired to work overnights. Overcrowding was a problem for the jail two years ago but Sheriff Adams indicates that problem has been overcome due to cooperation of the county’s justices of the peace and the courts.
