TXDOT Hwy. 11 Plans [4:18m]: Play Now | Play in Popup

TXDOT Area Engineer Ernest L. Teague Jr. has plans for a radical reconstruction of State Highway 11 West between Sulphur Springs and Commerce that could impact 200 landowners and require taking a few homes along the new route’s right of way. The TXDOT proposal will be explained at a public meeting on August 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. Teague says the dangerous road will be improved to 5-lanes with curb and gutter and shoulders. Two of the current road’s sharp curves will be straightened and several hills will be shaved down, some perhaps by as much as 10 to 12 feet. At the public meeting, Teague says there will be a break so that landowners can hear specifically how the new highway will impact their property.
