The Sulphur Springs City Council will consider a 19 item agenda when they meet Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Among items are several the city council has taken up before. Included in those are four city-initiated rezoning requests for land annexed into the city last November. One is up for its second and final reading and three will be heard again on first reading after going back to the Planning and Zoning Commission. The city council is also expected to finalize an ordinance for issuing certificates of obligation to secure funds for a wide variety of needs such as streets and drainage work, street equipment, water and sewer improvements, acquisition of a fire truck and other vehicles and for airport improvements. The council is also expected to finalize a reinvestment zone for GSA Enterprises, doing business as Fidelity Express. The council will also consider letting the city manager enter a contract for tax abatement with GSA Enterprises. The council will also decide whether to demolish three structures on Lamar and Carter Streets. The council will be encouraged to participate in the Texas Main Street Program. They will also consider a recommendation from the Downtown Revitalization Board for parking for the Main Street construction between the square and Davis Street. City Manager Marc Maxwell will also give his monthly Manager’s Report.
